Some economical considerations
The use of DRA's is the most efficient way to increase the pipeline capacity. The extra capacity is available the same day you introduce DRA into the field.
There is no big investment. You only connect the injection pump to the pipeline. And if sometimes you do not need the extra capacity, stop the pump and there is no running cost. The investments needed are generally very low, especially if you use emulsion type of product. It does not need any special heated feed tanks or other arrangements at pumping stations. The performance of DRA's is outstanding.
In some cases just the decrease in energy costs may justify the usage of this product.
